Single Channel Digital Video
Holiday features an interview with a young Albanian woman who recounts her work experiences at home and in the United States. Filmed on a beach in Albania, the interview unfolds as vacationers swim and sunbathe in the background in an exchange of speech and subtitles. In the process, the video touches on personal narrative, language, globalization, migration, tourism, documentary videomaking, and representation, among others.
This video was presented at the Western Front by Alissa Firth-Eagland in the screening The Lotus Eaters: New Vancouver Video Works (2007) along with videos by Abbas Akhavan, Sobhi al-Zobaidi, Eric Deis, Meesoo Lee, Isabelle Pauwels, Igor Santizo, and Donna Szoke.
